Beaches

Fort Pierce boasts some of the states best beaches and state parks. St. Lucie    County has many beautiful beaches for you to visit. Enjoy your own personal water sport interest from snorkeling to boogie boarding. We offer horseback riding on the beach at Frederick Douglas Memorial Park and dogs are welcome at Walton Rocks beach. So come out, have fun and cool down during those summer months. Lifeguards are stationed at Pepper Park.

Blind Creek

Encompassing 108 acres, this upland andwetland  preserve features a mile and a half of beachfront dunes and seashore fishing. It’s also an important nesting area for Green and Loggerheadsea turtles during the summer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Blue Heron Beach

This park offers four acres of unspoiled beachfront with paved parking for 30 cars next to a forested restoration area.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Frederick Douglass Memorial Park

Named after Frederick Douglass, thefamous African-American abolitionist, editor and author, this beachfront park offersthe rare opportunity to ride horseback on the beach. Permits are required toride horses

Hutchinson Island offers one of the fewplaces in the State of Florida where you can enjoy a horseback ride on thebeach. The St. Lucie County Tourism Office and the St. Lucie County MosquitoControl division are responsible for managing and monitoring horseback ridingon the beach at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park in St. Lucie County.

 

 

 

 

John Brooks Park Beachside

Named after noted local environmental activist John Brooks, this 226-acre upland and wetland preserve  features two miles of beachfront dunes and seashore fishing, and has one wooden ramped dune-crossover with covered viewing area.

A quaint one-acre tranquilbeach with 12 paved parking spots provides enough access to escape to theisland
